It's a community-driven directory, not a review site and not an awards programme. People use it to answer one question — "is there a Canadian option for this?" — across a lot of categories. There's no fee, no ranking to win and no score attached to a listing. Being on it means the site's maintainers judged VOLTA to meet their criteria as a Canadian-founded alternative in its category. That's the whole claim, and we'd rather say it plainly than dress it up.

What the listing says

Their description of us reads: "Browser-based, AI-assisted electrical estimating and takeoff software for electrical contractors, built and operated by a small British Columbia team." That's accurate. The listing positions VOLTA as an alternative to Trimble and McCormick Systems, describing it as a lighter browser-based option focused on electrical contractors that may suit smaller shops or anyone wanting a simpler estimating workflow.

That framing matches how we describe ourselves on our own comparison pages, including the parts where the incumbents are genuinely stronger — Accubid for enterprise multi-estimator workflows, McCormick for four decades of database depth. A directory listing doesn't change that, and we're not going to pretend it does.

Why it matters to a contractor

Mostly it's a sourcing signal. If buying Canadian is something you weigh — and for a lot of shops right now it is — then it's useful to know the estimating software you're paying for monthly is built and run here rather than licensed from abroad.
